You'll find numerous opportunities to experience culture in the Italian Alps. Because of the very central position of our family hotel and congress hotel Der Rierhof in Chiusa, all the important cultural highlights are at a stone's throw away from here.
Below a selection that we would like to recommend particularly:
a medieval monastery complex in a truly spectacular position on top of a rock high above the city of Chiusa.
Already Albrecht Dürer, the well-known German artist, made a stop in Chiusa during his trip to Italy in 1494. The winding alleys of Chiusa will astonish you with their beautiful bay windows. – and don't miss the Loreto treasure in the town museum, a unique collection of Spanish works of Art dated from 1700.
The dome, the cloister and the arcades form an ensemble that is really worth seeing. The diocesan museum in the Hofburg exhibits a very famous collection of nativity representations all year round.
A large complex dating back to the 12th century with a unique Baroque collegiate church. You will be able to taste the monastery's own award-winning wines in the wine cellar belonging to the complex.
the world-famous glacier mummy and further archaeological finds from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages can be admired at the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology.
THE botanical highlight in the Italian Alps, the Gardens of Castle Trauttmansdorff & the museum for the history of tourism Touriseum are open from April to November.
